Apple Wheat Halwa

Happy Women's Day to all my dear friends... :)

This Recipe post is women's Day special, We group of friends are celebrating Women's day by sharing our comfortable and favorite recipes...  These Recipes are dedicated to All the Women in the world.  Every year the themes are announced by United Nations, and this year's theme is "Inspiring Change".

About "Women's Day" it has a in-depth history of world. World wide our older generations have fought for centuries to get the basic rights and equal opportunities like man. How lucky we are.. At least the rights are in paper and law books for sure.. ;) Jokes apart...we get all the freedom to do whatever we like.. But not all the women..Still in this century  in lots of villages, towns and cities, there are women who does not have the right to express their views or explore the world. Unless we speak up, unless we raise the voice, unless we demand, there will be no change... If we don't fight for ourselves, no one is going to.

And this is the small dedication to all the women in the world.
I really liked the words from Ms. Roseanne Barr, and it is very true too. So decided to have it in the logo. :) If anyone wants to post this logo in your blog for Women's Day celebration, you are most welcome to use it.

So today I am going to share a simple yet tasty Dessert recipe - Apple Wheat Halwa

I should call it as Apple Wheat Nuts Halwa... As I have added lots of nuts in it.

Recipe inherited from here

I have modified a little for my comfort of cooking...
Ingredients:

Apples - 2 cups grated (approx 3 apples)
Milk- 1 and 1/3 cups & 1 and a 1/2 cups
Wheat flour - 1 and 1/4 cups
Sugar- 1 and 1/2 cups
Ghee - 1/2 -3/4 cup (as needed)
Elachi powder - 1/2 tea spoon
Cashews - 1 table spoon
pista - 10-15 nos (slice / chop into small pieces)
Almonds - 10-15 nos(slice / Chop into small pieces)

Preparation:
1. Grate the Apples and keep ready
2. Boil 1 and 1/3 cups of milk in a heavy bottom / non stick pan
3. Add Grated apples and cook well for 10 to 15 minutes in medium flame. Check ofter and do not let it burn in bottom
4. Mix 1 and 1/2 cups of flour and 1 and 1/2 cups of milk and whisk to make it as a paste.. Add more milk if require. make it as a batter without lumps
5.When the Apples are cooked well, add the batter, food color and elachi powder to it and mix well... (Mix well quickly, it may form lumps again... if you are not confident enough to mix quickly... keep the flame to low and mix with the whisker / laddle)
6. Add ghee little by little and mix well...
7. Add the sliced almonds and pista and mix well...
8. Fry cashews in ghee and add them when the raw smell of wheat leaves from the halwa...
9. keep adding the ghee little by little and mix until it reaches the halwa consistency.
10. spread in a greased plate, and let it cool... then serve...

Notes:
1. Adjust the sugar according to your taste, I made it medium sweet.
2. I have added less than 1/2 cup of ghee in this recipe. if you do not have any health constraints you can add more ghee for better consistency...
3. I have added double the amount of nuts than mentioned here... add as per your chice

It was really tasting too good and my hubby and kid enjoyed the sweet... I have taken this to baba temple here as prasadam, in prasadalaya, my daughter was telling her fellow kids like "My mommy have brought some yummy sweet..", "my mommy made it so delicious" etc etc... She made me blushed in front of her friends and their moms.. :)
